The Armonía Cultural Foundation invited you to enjoy the work "Ópera Suor Angélica",

The work was presented on March 15, 2023, at the San Gabriel School Theater in Quito. The event was supported by the National Conservatory of Music, the School of Music of the Universidad Hemisferios, and the Quito City Orchestra Foundation.

The project aimed to reach the entire Ecuadorian community, especially the residents of Quito, as it portrayed typical aspects of this society. Children, youth, and adults had the opportunity to enjoy this performance, which sought to provide a space for the country's artists to develop both artistically and economically.

The work "Opera Suor Angelica" is a creation by Italian composer Giacomo Puccini, considered one of the greatest of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The story of a woman living in exile due to her family's disapproval of her extramarital affair, which resulted in a child, was presented at the San Gabriel School Theater. The play centered on the protagonist, who experienced feelings of longing for her unknown child and sadness due to her confinement.

"Sister Angelica" is one of the most highly regarded and performed operas in the world, due to its lyrical style, inner drama, and controversial themes that connect directly with the audience. On this occasion, the musical direction was led by maestro César Espinoza, the stage direction was by Susana Nicolalde of the Mandrágora Foundation, and the choral preparation was led by maestro Natalia Luzuriaga.

On Wednesday, March 15, 2023, the public had the opportunity to enjoy a production that perfectly combined the harmony of music, lyrics, singing, and acting. Forty national artists appeared at the theater to perform this opera, which had a single performance of one act at 8:00 p.m. The available seats for this work were: center seat (25 USD), side seat (20 USD), and box seat (15 USD).

For several years, the Armonía Cultural Foundation, a non-profit organization, has been promoting production and creating new spaces, partnerships, and strategies to cultivate the opera genre and promote the professional development of academic musicians throughout Ecuador.
