Opera returns to the Teatro Nacional Sucre with this national work from the Armonía Foundation. Be part of a phenomenal experience this November 8th at 7:00 PM and November 9th at 6:00 PM. Don't miss it!

In commemoration of Puccini's centenary, the Armonía Foundation, the Sucre National Theater, and the Renaissance Orchestra present a two-act concert. The first will be a tribute recital featuring the composer's most iconic works, followed by a complete performance of his opera Suor Angelica.

This work, part of Puccini's triptych inspired by the Divine Comedy, depicts purgatory and addresses the internal struggle of a woman trapped in a convent. Through Sister Angelica, Puccini explores the restrictions society imposes on women, showing how the main character, far from being in a place of devotion, lives in penitence, punished by a society that judges and represses her for her choices. The opera is a profound critique of the role imposed on women as symbols of purity, while she suffers in silence.

Puccini uses music, theater, and conceptual staging to express the protagonist's pain and search for redemption.
