INTERNATIONAL SINGING COMPETITION

The Armonía Cultural Foundation, Vocalis Consort, with the support of Casa de la Música, present the first international competition Canto Latino – CyberChallenge2021, inviting all lovers of lyrical singing to interpret songs by Latin American composers, with the aim of highlighting this musical genre.

The competition focuses on compositions with piano accompaniment. We want to challenge the creativity and authenticity of artists in creating high-level performances. We seek singers who succeed using video platforms and who can demonstrate their artistic vision, originality, ingenuity, and, above all, their art.

We are looking for artists who are capable of bringing lyrical art into the present day and adapting it to different digital platforms.

Today, more than ever, is the time for artists to show their talent through digital platforms!

The Canto Latino – CyberChallenge2021 competition is open to singers of all nationalities, with no age limit.

PRIZES

Eight categories will be awarded.
Each category will receive $500 USD.
Special Prize: Debut Recital at Casa de la Música for one singer and one pianist of Ecuadorian nationality.

RULES AND REQUIREMENTS

REQUIREMENTS:

One song by a Latin American composer, sung in the original language and performed acoustically for voice and piano.
The piece must be recorded live as a professional recording. Lip-syncing will not be accepted.
Creativity and initiative are encouraged. Singers should use the video platform successfully as a medium to showcase their artistic vision, originality, ingenuity, and art.
Contestants may include a brief introduction to the piece they are performing.
Videos must be uploaded to YouTube as an unlisted link, which must be included in the registration form.
A PDF of the song to be performed must be uploaded in the registration form.
A contestant may participate in multiple categories.

Singers and pianists must provide a separate biography (approx. 100 words, PDF or Word) and one headshot (minimum 1 MB or 300 dpi).

FINALISTS

Finalists must send their videos via WeTransfer or Google Drive to cantolatino21@gmail.com. Videos will be posted on the competition’s YouTube channel for public viewing.

COMPETITION RULES

Semifinals: February 1–20, 2021
Participants selected for the final round will be announced on February 21, 2021. Once notified, finalists must submit their videos by February 26, 2021.
Finals: March 7–20, 2021
Winners announced: March 21, 2021
The jury’s decision at each stage of the competition is final and not subject to appeal. The jury may choose not to award a prize.
